Spring Break

Last week was Aaron's spring break and first official week to take care of Morgan. They managed to get quite a few things done, including a new license, lunch with a friend, and time at his shop. They did really great together. Morgan is such a content baby - really only cries if she's hungry. She is a perfect angel.

I ended up working from home a couple of days because I had a nasty cold. It was nice to have the option of working in my PJ's instead of getting dressed and going to the office to sneeze and cough all day.

Conner had to have several shots during spring break to get him caught up with the vaccination requirements of GISD kindergarten enrollment. He absolutely hates shots -so we decided to hold off on a big birthday present for him and instead buy a big boy bike as a bribe. He was so brave and only cried a little while at the doctor. Aaron took him to pick out a bike as soon as they were done. He is still a little uneasy when riding - mostly yells or whines at his mom and dad - "help me". We keep pushing him to practice everyday so that it gets easier and easier.

Morgan crashed out from a hard day with Daddy!

Post Event and Houston Trip

We had a super busy week last week. After coming back from maternity leave, I only had about 4 weeks to pull together one of our major events. Things were a bit more chaotic than normal and I ended up missing my time to pick up Morgan a couple days, sending Aaron in my place and working late almost every night of the week. The event turned out to be successful but I won't be doing that again!!! Friday was a nice breather from the fast paced week, and I took off from work, sort of - at least as much as you can when you have a conference call and then emails to respond to all day. None the less, I took the opportunity to make a quick trip to Houston.

Last year, my best friend Erin had the cutest Easter pictures taken with bunnies. I loved them so much that I wanted to try and get to Houston to have Conner and Morgan's picture done. The pictures were this weekend and I can't wait to see them.

Morgan is officially sleeping through the night. She has turned out to be a very content baby. It seems like every night from 5 to 8 she takes about three bottles, almost as if she is stocking up. Then crashes around 8:30 and I actually have to wake her in the mornings around 6:30 to feed her before we head to Sherry's.

Conner started playing soccer again. We've had one game so far - so happy to be on the Blue Dragon team again this season.

Happy 5th Birthday Conner

We had a wonderful birthday celebration for Conner's 5th birthday this Saturday. We started off at the house with brunch with family - Grandma and Papa Wilson, Aunt Glenda, Granny B, Bri, Noah and Papa Boatwright. Then we headed to the main event - Texas Skatium where several of Conner's friends came to bounce and skate. Aaron and I even got out on the skates for a little while. Conner came home with several new toys and has been making the rounds from toy to toy. I ordered shirts for Conner and Morgan to go along with the transformer theme - they read "Connerbot" and "Morganbot". The picture of them together is my favorite.

Feb 14 - Happy Valentines Day

Today is Valentine's Day - Conner is having a party at his school and super excited. He was up and going this morning, dressed and back pack ready to go. I let the boys have their presents last night - gave Conner a little mini bumblebee pack that he can fill with his little toys and Aaron a big box of chocolates. Have to admit, I wanted to sample the chocolates last night instead of waiting for today!

Conner just passed his first level of tutoring at Kumon. He is super excited to start reading things on his own. We are so proud of him. We cleaned out his bookshelf this weekend and he only has big boy books to read, no more baby picture books. He also passed the first round of the Gifted and Talented test and goes back for a second round of testing this Friday. He's such a smart little guy. His report card from Imagination Station reflected the same - only improvement area - play and share better with others. Hey, guess you can't be perfect! We are working on improving in this area.

Morgan had her first cold last week. She's still coughing some but otherwise doing much better. We've been working on keeping her off her head as the pediatrician has told us she has a flat spot developing on the back left side. This is her preferred side when she sleeps at night. She doesn't like tummy time, so we hold her in our lap or up on our shoulder as much as possible. I'm hoping things improve by her 4 month check up since I would hate for her to have to wear one of those helmets. The doctor also told us she already has a tooth coming in. Its really early for that but doctor doesn't seem to concerned. She weighed 14 lbs. last week. She is still on the same sleep schedule at night. Goes to sleep around 9 pm and then wakes up between 2 and 3 am, then another feeding around 5:30 am. Daddy does the 2 to 3 am shift and I do the 5:30 one.

This past weekend, we ran a few errands but otherwise pretty low key. I had my eyes checked, its been about three years and one eye changed dramatically, in fact the doctor told me I went from being near sighted to far sighted - typically something he only sees in children. Looking forward to getting my new glasses as I've had a hard time seeing lately when I'm driving.

Grandmom and Papa Wilson will be baby sitting this Friday and Monday since Sherry will be out of town. Plus we have a big birthday celebration for Conner Saturday!

Feb 3 - 2012

I've decided to start blogging again to keep up with all things Boatwright. I did such a good job writing about Conner when he was a baby that I feel I should do the same for Morgan. Conner loves reading the old blog entries.

Morgan arrived at 2:48 pm by way of induction on November 17, 2011. I was in labor for 15 hours this time, shorter than Conner, but none the less seemed really long to me. I was nervous about delivering Morgan because she was such a big baby, but ultimately the delivery was surprisingly quick and easy. Morgan weighed 9 lbs. 14 oz. at birth - too bad they wouldn't round up for a solid 10 lbs. After delivery, I seriously felt like I deserved a medal for carrying and delivering such a big baby. We were all released the very next day.

Today, Morgan is 11 weeks old and a couple of weeks ago weighed in at 13.5 lbs and 24" long. She falls in the 98 percentile for size - but pediatrician says all is well and proportioned. She's already wearing 6 month clothes since she's so long. We struggled to find the right formula for her, but for the last month the soy has been her formula of choice. She's a happy, healthy baby.

I've been back to work now for two weeks. Morgan goes to Ms. Sherry's house, while Conner goes to Imagination Station. Daddy and I are pretty tired these days but we are managing as best we can. I really look forward to catching up on rest when the weekend roles around.

We are gearing up for Conner's 5th birthday. Hard to believe he is already 5 - where does the time go? Tomorrow he'll test for the kindergarten gifted and talented program. I think he is such a smart boy, and that he'll ace it, but I may be biased. Test results will be released end of March. He's been going to Kumon for the last several months to work on reading skills. Just within the last couple of weeks, everything seems to have clicked and now he is reading words on his own. He is such a sweetheart and for the most part likes Morgan. We have our good and bad days, but mostly good. We will have a small birthday celebration this weekend at Chuck E Cheese and then in a few weeks, Conner is having a big party with his family and school friends at the skating rink. He is super excited and talks about it everyday. This years theme "transformers".
