Bathroom Complete

I didn't take any pictures before we started this endeavor but I was able to find a picture that we took when we first moved in the house. We added two colors of paint - brown and blue, painted the cabinets white and added hardware, installed new light fixtures and added some new accessories.

Three Day Weekend

The three day weekend was a nice time to get some rest and finish up some lingering projects around the house. All of us have been sick the last week, it started with Conner, then me and finally Aaron. Aaron felt really bad most of the weekend so he tried to take it easy as much as possible. Conner and I felt better by the weekend. On Saturday, Conner and I drove to Denton to visit my mom and Aunt Glenda. Aunt Glenda had a shoulder replacement last week and is staying at the rehabilitation center. Mom is in town to help out until she's home and feeling better. Before Denton, Conner and I stopped at IKEA to pick up a few things for the bathroom. I found a really great rug that fits perfectly and a framed print that matched my color scheme. After IKEA we drove to Denton, and Conner, Mom and I went to lunch at Pei Wei. We then did some shopping at Babies R Us for my friend Erin. Her baby shower is this weekend so we wanted to get some things on her registry. We visited with my Aunt and she seems to be in good spirits and is getting lots of rehab time on her shoulder. They originally thought she would be in rehab a couple of weeks but she may be able to make it home sooner. Conner and I made it back to Garland around 6 and I turned him over to Aaron so I could finish running some errands.

Saturday morning I made to the gym and that was rough since I'd been out of commission for a week. I did my weekly grocery shopping and then we took Conner to the park. The weather was perfect this Saturday. Conner made a little friend at the park - of course it was a little blonde girl about his age. He also discovered the joy of going head first down the slides. It only took once for him to see another kid doing it and then he decided he should do the same - such a boy!

Monday we had Aaron's brakes replaced on the truck and stayed around the house all day. Last night was rough because for some reason Conner did not want to go to sleep. Conner has always been a very good sleeper and for the most part will go to sleep when we put him to bed. Last night we put him to bed at his normal time and then about 8:30 he started crying. We went in to check on him and he wanted nothing to do with sleeping. I tried laying with him in the bed, we let him watch TV in the living room, we let him watch TV in our bed with me. I finally gave in about 10 and turned the job over to Aaron. Aaron told me he stayed in his room for a couple of hours after I fell sleep. He did everything he could to stay up - he finally gave in about midnight. I'm sure his sleep schedule is really messed up now. Let's hope tonight goes better.

Fast Weekend

I've put off painting the hall bathroom since we've moved in and decided to start working on it over the long weekend. I picked up a couple cans of paint and some new light fixtures to replace the 80's looking ones. The painting went very well and Aaron came in to assist in hanging my new light fixtures Saturday evening. We soon discovered why those paticiular light fixtures had remained in the house since it was built because they wouldn't fit - no way, now how. To remedy the problem Aaron had to cut some holes in the sheet rock, make a couple of trips to Lowes and after several hours and days we are getting closer to the end of this project. We hope to have everything finished in the next couple of weeks. Conner is 100% healthy and went back to daycare on Monday. We've been thinking of moving him to a larger day care next September and went ahead and told our current sitter so she could start looking to fill the spot. Conner currently goes to Mrs. Sherry's where she takes care of four kids - Conner, another boy who is just a little over 1 and two babies that are not even crawling yet. We love Mrs. Sherry and it was a hard decision but we know Conner will enjoy playing with other kids his age. We are pretty set on a place here in Garland called Imagination Station. One of my co-workers Aunt's owns the place, it is very close to my job and we think it will be a good fit for him. We are looking forward to the weekend since we are expected to have some nice park weather.

Happy Birthday Grand!

Happy New Year

Hard to believe it is already 2009. We had tickets to the Lone Star Cirque du Soleil at the Dallas Children's theater Wednesday night. The show was at 5:30 pm and we thought Conner would really enjoy it. It was a typical Cirque du Soleil type show that included acrobats, gymanists, etc. but to make it fun for kids, in between acts two clowns kept us very entertained. It was open seating and we took a spot on the first row. Very brave of us since Conner hates people dressed up but we decided to take our chances. Conner was intriqued with the lights and acts and suprisingly his favorite parts were the clowns. We made it home around 8 pm and Conner had already fallen asleep before we pulled in the drive way. Aaron and I watched a movie and I managed to stay up until 12:05 pm to ring in the new year. With the nice weather and long weekend we've been visiting the parks to let Conner run around. Happy New Year to everyone.

New Rooms

I mentioned in a previous blog that Conner now has his own play room and a big boy bed. Here are a couple of pictures of his room. It's a bit hard to make out the comforter but it is dinosaurs.Conner's new Bed
