Computer Crash

This weekend our computer was unforunately hit by a virus. Aaron was able to get it back up and running but we lost everything saved on the computer. If any one reading this blog has pictures of Conner from the last year I would love to have them on a disc to replace the ones we lost.

Aaron and I had a three day weekend and went to a movie yesterday, Sherlock Holmes. We enjoyed it and give it a thumbs up.

Conner has officially been invited to his first birthday party. In fact, he had two invitations for this Saturday. We've decided to go to Blake's birthday party, Jodie's son, a friend of mine through work. We'll have to miss Howard's party at the bounce place. Howard is a friend of Conner's from day care.

In just a couple of weeks our little guy will be three and then it's off to Houston to celebrate Emily's first birthday (Erin's daughter).

Christmas and New Years

Conner enjoyed Christmas this year and really had a better idea about Santa. We introduced "Johnny" the elf this year as part of our Christmas traditions. His Granny B bought him the elf and helped pick out his name. For those of you unfamiliar with Elf on the Shelf, he watches Conner to see if he is naughty or nice and reports back to Santa every night and then finds a new place to sit in the house. He wasn't scared of Santa this year and at the Boatwright Christmas party had a chance to talk to him and tell him that he wanted a toy for christmas. Not very specific other than he wanted a toy.

Santa was very kind and brought him a new Bosch tool workshop and a tonka remote control car. Conner also collected several things from family which included about 50new hot wheels, Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs, cars from the Cars movie, a motorized motorcyle, a wood train, puzzles that make noise, books, christmas ornaments and some legos.

Thank you to everyone for making Conner's Christmas so fun. He has enjoyed playing with all the new things and he has especially enjoyed watching his movies.

We were lucky to have a white christmas this year. It snowed on Christmas Eve so on Christmas when we woke up we still had snow on the ground. Conner played in it a bit and now asks if it is going to snow. With all the cold weather we've had so far I'm sure he will get at least one more chance in the coming months.

2009 was a rough year for the Boatwright Family and we were glad to welcome 2010 and expect to have a much better year. We are looking forward to getting healthy and enjoying our family time together.

Carla's Song The Story of the Homeless Christmas Tree

Last night Aaron surprised me with a date night right up my alley. He bought us tickets to the play "Carla's Song, The story of the Homeless Christmas Tree". It was a performance by CATS in Arlington. It was a wonderful production by a local theatre and a neat story. I'd never heard the story. Aaron has lived in the area some time and remembers seeing this tree on I30 but never knew the story either. The performance is based on a book and last night the author was there to sign copies. I was able to purchase a book and it really is a beautiful story if you've never heard it. Here is a picture of the book as well as a link to a story that the local new station covered.

Halloween and Teddy Bear Ride

Conner had a very fun Halloween this year as "Batman". It kicked off on Monday with carving pumpkins at home and then a Halloween carnival at his school on Tuesday night. Wednesday morning was followed with "I need candy, I need candy". Saturday night we took him trick or treating at Firewheel. We were a little late getting there so he did not collect a bunch of candy and we opted to have some cake at Barnes and Noble. He was a bit hyped up on sugar so we let him run off some of his energy at the park inside the mall. Sunday was the CCCAC Teddy Bear Ride and Conner's first time to attend. He was really enjoyed seeing the thousand motorcyles and chowing down on a hot dog.

The same lady (Mary Phillips)who took Conner's pictures at Christmas just recently took his pictures at an old Cotton Mill in McKinney. He's such a little boy! (click on the picture)

Trip to Corpus Christi

Conner is back from his vacation to Grandma's and Papa's in Corpus Christi. They kept him very entertained with a trip to the Aquarium, the beach and water park. He learned to fly a kite and started working on saying his days of the week.

Yesterday we enjoyed the water park here in town as we are still hitting the three digit mark pretty much every day. He has become quite the swimmer. He loves to jump off the edge of the pool and will event go under the water. I couldn't find swim classes for two year olds so I'm excited to see how much he loves the water and hopefully he'll pick up on swimming pretty easily next summer.

New Day Care

Conner started his "school" or new day care this past week. Everyday he cried when he was dropped off but seemed to be having a blast everyday when it was time to go home. The first day I picked him up he was hugging a little girl when I walked into his room. I asked, "Did you make any new friends today?" and he said, "yes". I asked, "did you make any new girl friends?" and he said, "um hum." He was pretty shy the first day but on day two his teachers told me that he sang a song for the whole class "twinkle, twinkle". He has warmed up more and started participating in the activities. I suspect in the next couple of weeks he won't cry when he is dropped off.

Right now he is with the younger two's (or the ones still working on potty training). In September they are going to move him with the older two's. He is much bigger than all the others - not fat but taller and more heftier. He had problems taking a nap until about the third day, no problems eating lunch - cleaned his plate every time and he even managed to use the potty a couple of times during the week.

I recieved a call on Thursday afternoon that he was running a fever and he needed to be picked up. We went home and started on some tylenol and motrin, then about 5 pm he started throwing up - and this was a first for him. I'm happy to report that Mama was able to control her gag reflex and not hurl at the same time. We went from play room to bathroom in no time flat - got him washed up and headed straight to the doctor. Our normal family doctor was working the after hours clinic that night so Dr. Fisch prescribed rest, fluids and stay on the tylenol and motrin.

I suspect Conner got sick from the other kids at day care or from the pool water at the water park. By Saturday morning Conner was feeling back to his usual self.
